Maintenance and monitoring is at the heart of our operations and is a growing program. As we get further along, you'll see more and more information from us about how our trees are progressing, what we're learning and developing along the way

Now is the best time to get out and give your trees a pre-winter health check. Rachel (our Operations Manager) has spent the season with our landowners, monitoring the progress of all the schemes we have planted to date. The success has been great and part of that is due to the attention and care of the individuals, farmers and families who look after the trees. Of course not everyone has looked after trees before, and sharing best practice and answering questions is part of our everyday. Rachel shares here some of our top tips for caring for your trees, whether you've planted with us or anyone else.

The end of the summer events calendar saw us out at the Abergavenny Food Festival - a great weekend despite the weather. Getting out to the local and agricultural shows is really important to us and we've been delighted to meet a lot of you in person over the last few months. 

Stump Up For Trees has received a second year of funding support from the Brecon Beacons Local Nature Partnership - Connector Grant Programme at the maximum grant of £15,000!

These funds will enable us to develop the next stages of our Seed to Tree program - directly targeting nature recovery through community action and individual engagement in the Bannau Brycheiniog and South Wales.

Our new Stump Up For Trees Nursery manager is appointed! With thanks to support from the National Lottery Community Fund / Cronfa Gymunedol y Loteri Genedlaethol and all our wonderful supporters who leant their voices to our application.

'Roots for Hope' was a project started by Dr. Jack Parry Jones, for the planting of a COVID memorial woodland at Graig Barn Farm. The trees are looking great, and we got the opportunity to take volunteers (some of whom helped plant them) to help us install a bench to remember all the patients who passed through the intensive care unit at Cardiff University Hospital during the pandemic and commemorate the extraordinary work of the medical teams.  

We are really proud to partner with St David’s Hotel, and to support their commitment to environmental sustainability through their 'Meetings For Good' initiative.

Work at our community tree nursery in Bettws goes on throughout the year. We're indebted to our volunteers, and also our community of supporters who provide us with the resources we need for a key task, mulching our trees. Our Ops manager Rachel explains why we mulch our trees, how we do it, why sheep's wool is involved and how this is all a sustainable part of the circular economy.

The bracken is high, and the weather hasn't been great, but Sheelagh and Rachel have been out on the hill, doing the slow walk of the insect spotter!

We're thrilled to announce that Stump Up For Trees is now managing the 'Cradle for Nature' site in Varteg, Pontypool. We are committed to building on the impressive achievements of the original team in soil and ecological restoration at this 30-year research site. Our plans include site maintenance, community engagement, and long-term planning with local stakeholders. Join us in this journey towards a sustainable future!
